The term of a special prosecutor looking into possible misconduct by Kanawha County Prosecutor Bill Charnock has been extended by a Kanawha County judge, the Charleston Gazette reported Monday.
Charnock is accused of using office resources at the Prosecuting Attorneys Institute to help his campaign for the Kanawha County Prosecutor's race.
He was the Institute's director during his run for the prosecutor's office.
Charnock is also accused of using materials from the state agency to help his sister's campaign for family court judge and his brother's campaign for Charleston City Treasurer.
The investigation began in 2005.
