New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton holds a strong lead over other potential presidential contenders on the Democratic side in a new poll of voters in Ohio. Former New York Governor Rudy Guiliani is the favorite among Ohio's Republican voters.
The Quinnipiac University Polling Institute shows Mrs. Clinton with 38% support in Ohio. The next closest contender is Illinois Senator Barack Obama at 13%. Former Vice Presidential candidate John Edwards polled at 11% in this survey.
GOP voters in the Buckeye state favor Guiliani with 30% of the vote. Former presidential candidate and Arizona Senator John McCain is running second at 22%, while former House speaker Newt Gingrich has 11% support.
The poll surveyed about 1300 registered Ohio voters by phone from last Tuesday to Sunday. It has a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points.
