Three people died in an accident on Cabin Creek Road, near Wealthy Acres in Kanawha County early Friday morning.

Police say a minivan was traveling north, out of Cabin Creek, when it collided with a southbound coal truck.

The driver and two passengers in the minivan died at the scene.

State Police say 23 year old James Payne of Miami was driving two 18 year old friends from Akron, Ohio to breakfast. Paul Thompson and
Ryan Hysell died at the scene along with Payne.

State Police say wet roads and speed are to blame for the accident.

Cabin Creek was closed for about 4 hours.
