Groundhog Day Prediction

Marmota Monax seem to be in agreement.

Both French Creek Freddie and Punxsutawney Phil are predicting an early spring.

French Creek Freddie's handlers at the West Virginia Wildlife Center in Upshur County said he didn't see his shadow friday morning.

Tens of thousands of Punxsutawney Phil fans packed Gobbler's Knob in Pennsylvania for the 121st Annual Weather Prediction.

After careful deliberation, it was determined Phil did not see his shadow.

In the past, Phil had seen his shadow about three-fourths of the time.

Groundhog Day comes from a German superstition.

It came at the mid-point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox.

Superstition is that if the groundhog doesn't see its' shadow, then that means an early spring.

However, if there is a shadow, the second half of Winter would be stormy and cold, which means six more weeks of winter.
