The death of firefighter Fred Borroughs has reminded everyone of how dangerous the life of a first responder can be, and on Saturday, one group wanted to show the brave men and women how much they are appreciated.
The Knights of Columbus in Charleston honored Borroughs and others during their annual Blue Mass.
They say the death of Borroughs should serve as a reminder of how dangerous their lives can be.
The mass also honored the living that risk their lives every day so the public may remain safe, but they are not looking for praise.
After the mass, a dinner was held in honor of those that perform such an invaluable service.
