CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - The mother of a five-year-old girl found wandering around in freezing weather on Monday has been arrested.
Charleston Police Sergeant Aaron James says 32-year-old Angela Moles of Charleston was arrested Friday. She's facing a felony charge of child neglect creating risk of injury.
Moles' daughter was discovered early Monday morning, unattended, and wearing only pajamas, house shoes and a jacket. The outside temperature at the time was nine degrees with a minus-five wind chill factor.
Police tried to contact Moles at her apartment that day but got no response. Child Protective Services took the child into custody.
The incident occurred just one day after a toddler in Pennsylvania died after being left outside in the cold. Her father, 23-year-old William Lorenzo Page of Braddock, Pennsylvania, was arrested on charges of criminal homicide, kidnapping, false reports and simple assault.
