CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Two current correctional officers and a former one are facing charges for allegedly smuggling contraband into the Central Regional Jail in Sutton.
Last week, State Police arrested the three on charges stemming from an investigation that started after an inmate told a jail supervisor about the contraband.
Twenty-four-year-old Cassandra Lynn Putnam of Glenville is charged with conspiracy and bringing drugs and lighters into the jail.
Putnam resigned January 17th while she was under investigation.
The other two defendants, 37-year-old Trevor Lee Ward of Mount Nebo and 35-year-old Okey Ferrell Smith of Gassaway, have been under suspension since January 20th. They face charges of bringing tobacco into the facility, and conspiracy.
