CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - The state Supreme Court has declined to hear an appeal of a Public Service Commission decision approving construction of a 124-turbine wind farm in southeastern West Virginia.

The court unanimously rejected appeals filed by opponents of Beech Ridge Energy LLC's $300 million project after a hearing Sept. 2.

A group called Mountain Communities for Responsible Energy and a Greenbrier County couple contended the PSC was wrong when it approved the start of construction in February.

In giving its OK, the PSC said Beech Ridge had met all pre-construction conditions spelled out in an August 2006 PSC ruling. The state Supreme Court has already upheld the 2006 permit.
