Traffic Moving Again After Coal Train Derails in Boone County
Authorities say all railroad crossings are open on Route 26 in the Van area of Boone County, W.Va. They were blocked overnight because of a derailed coal train.

UPDATE @ 5:15am
According to 911 dispatchers, all railroad crossings are open. The cleanup will continue, but traffic is moving.

UPDATE @ 3:26am
The yardmaster told 911 dispatchers that the first crossing could be opened by 4 a.m. if everything goes well.

UPDATE @ 11pm
Authorities say motorists should continue to avoid Route 26 in the Van area of Boone County, W.Va., because of a derailed coal train. It was unknown late Wednesday how long the cleanup would take.



ORIGINAL STORY
VAN, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A train derailed in the Van area of Boone County late Wednesday afternoon, tying up traffic in the area.

911 dispatchers say it's a loaded coal train. No word yet on how many train cars are involved, but we're told Route 26 is blocked at several crossings.

No one was hurt, but dispatchers say the cleanup could take a long time.

Drivers are asked to avoid the Route 26 area.

It may have taken some companies that long to clean it up, but my husband was on this clean-up and it only took them 7 hours.

Well it has been awhile since they used the tracks in the first place, its csx fault for running the train on those tracks knowing that they never used them and and risking something like this, knowing that the tracks are not in good shape to have a train loaded with tons of coal on it
