GUYANDOTTE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Swine Fest 2009 officially kicked off in Guyandotte Thursday and its suddenly controversial name did not keep folks from attending.

People who attended say they know fact from fiction, that you can’t get the swine flu from eating pork.

“Swine flu is all about taking care of your self. You wash your hands and everything should be fine,” said Swine Fest attendee Mary Stamm.

Organizers of Swine Fest say they were not concerned about the turn out at all.

The festival boasts pork of all varieties including bratwursts, hot dogs and corn dogs.

Entertainment includes rides for the kids and even local bands, the festivities continue through Sunday.
