Kanawha Co. Reimbursed for Handley Train Wreck

The checks in the mail.

CSX has sent Kanawha County a check for $35-thousand for their roll in aiding the train derailment in Handley.

The county could receive a second check for more than $95-hundred, to pay for the mobile command unit.

CSX has already compensated many of the residents of Handley who were evacuated.

Eighteen cars of a 99-car freight train derailed on February 6 in Handley.

Ten of the derailed cars carried hazardous materials, including propane gas, a sodium hydroxide solution and chlorobenzene.
