UPDATE 9/10/12 @ 4:44 p.m.
ST. ALBANS, W. Va. (WSAZ) -- Chellbie Hudson and her boyfriend have been out apartment shopping.

She wants to get out of her parents’ house and thought they’d check out the DryRidge Apartments in St. Albans.

But, when they got there she had a quick change of heart.

"I was just like 'oh, my gosh are you serious?! It's seriously condemned for meth right now?!' I've lived around here for 19 years so this has been a pretty good apartment complex so it's like let's go check it out, but, not now," said Chellbie Hudson.

That’s because last Friday afternoon, police found meth making materials in one of the apartments.

"Its carcinogens -- so you know it can cause a whole lot of illnesses, cancer causing, things like that," said Cpt. James Agee of the St. Albans Police Department.

So, they had to condemn the entire building because of meth making materials that are found in only one, single unit.

"It's a touchy subject when you kick someone out of their home -- but, you know, this is for their safety. We really don't have a choice in this matter," said Cpt. Agee.

That’s because the fumes from making meth can travel through the air from unit to unit and is absorbed by anything from couches to drywall.

As for Hudson, she has more than just her health at stake.

"I mean I have a four-month-old son and I just don't want him anywhere near it. So coming to a place I thought was good and seeing signs of meth, I'm just going 'no -- we'll pass on that,’” said Hudson.

Residents of the apartment complex say it’s a good place and it was just one bad apple that caused this mess.

No arrests have been made in this case.
