Local Fire Departments Receive Federal Grants

Union Township received $74,000 in federal grants for new training equipment, radios and pagers.

The announcement was made Feb. 23.

Many other local fire departments received federal money from the Department of Homeland Security.

The City of Greenup received more than $142,000, Wurtland received $128,000 and Upper Township, Ohio is purchasing more than $130,000 worth of new equipment.

Chesapeake-Union Township Volunteer Fire Department is also receiving 10 sets of brushfighting gear.
