A former state trooper will be headed to prison for stealing from his post in Ashland, Kentucky.

Louie Podunavac was sentenced to more than two years in federal prison Monday.

The 19-year veteran of Post 14 in Ashland abruptly retired last year.

In addition to the prison time, he'll also have to pay back more than $180,000 he stole from his agency over a three-year period.

The 41-year-old Flatwoods resident apologized for his actions in U.S. District Court before Judge David L. Bunning sentenced him.
