MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A 17-year-old remains in the hospital after the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office says she was shot in the head by her father.
The shooting happened around 11:15 p.m. Saturday night at a house on Bashan Road near Long Bottom in Meigs County.
The Sheriff’s Office says that Joe Lemaster, 33, shot his daughter in the back of the head as she was fleeing the house in a family car.
After the shooting, the teen went to a nearby relative's house.
She was then flown to a Huntington hospital. No word on her condition. The Sheriff’s Office is not releasing her name.
Following the shooting, a fire was reported at the house.
Investigators say that Mr. Lemaster fled the scene following the shooting. He was arrested around 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning in the woods near the house.
They believe the shooting is the result of a domestic violence related situation.
Lemaster has been charged with attempted murder.

Most of you sound like you do a drug or two. IF THIS MAN WAS A GOOD ENOUGH SHOT TO HIT THIS GAL IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD WHILE DRIVING A CAR HE WAS A GOOD ENOUGH SHOT TO KNOW WHO HE WAS SHOOTING...DUH! poor dog, eh? He's probably glad to be rid of this family.
HE WILL BE HEAVILY GUARDED IN PRISON.
