Accused Child Killer May Be Sending Threatening Letters

Michael Merrifield is now being investigated for trying to intimidate possible witnesses in his murder trial.

According to the Charleston Gazette, the U. S. Attorney's Office received a letter Merrifield wrote from jail.

The letter contains a man's name and address, stating "have this freak worked on" and "stop him".

Police say Merrifield has sent several letters urging others to intimidate witnesses on his behalf.

Merrifield is charged with sexually abusing and killing Logan Goodall in Putnam County.

Logan died in September, 2005.
