CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The West Virginia University Mountaineers may be the winning team in the National Invitation Tournament, but their commemorative T-shirts are less than championship material.
They contain a misspelling.
The "West Virginia" printed on the shirts the players wore after winning the N-I-T last night is missing the last "i" in "Virginia."
W-V-U sports information director Shelly Poe says the shirts were printed by the N-I-T.
Calls to tournament officials were not immediately returned.
West Virginia coach John Beilein also could not be reached for comment. He and the team are on their way home today after winning their first N-I-T title in 65 years.
The Mountaineers defeated the Clemson Tigers 78-to-73.
