CATLETTSBURG, Ky. -- A 24-year-old eastern Kentucky man was sentenced to life in prison for killing his roommate.
Timothy Scott Simpson of Ashland remained silent yesterday as a Boyd Circuit judge handed down the punishment in the February 2006 shooting of 28-year-old Faith Clay.
Clay and Simpson had been living together for about three weeks when she was found dead on the couch with a gunshot wound to her right eye.
A jury convicted Simpson after deliberating for fewer than four hours, recommending life in prison plus an additional five years for tampering with evidence.
Simpson will be eligible for parole in 20 years.
