ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Are you as prepared as you can be for a pandemic flu epidemic?
The Ashland-Boyd County Catlettsburg Medical Reserve Corps is hosting "Citizen Ready Pandemic Influenza Training" on Thursday night,
November 5, 2009.
"We're looking for people wanting to be prepared. Even though we're in the middle of flu season right now, we still think people can still be prepared because it's going to be a long flu season," said Kristy Bolen, the MRC Coordinator.
People who attend will learn how to make a flu kit and learn more about the upcoming H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccines.
If you're interested in attending, it's at 6:00 pm at the Ashland-Boyd County Health Department. This is a pilot program by the American Medical Association and the Department of Homeland Security.
The local medical reserve corps is the only organization in Kentucky selected to participate.
"In a perfect world, this would have been scheduled six months ago, but there's still vital information available that can help people become more educated and alleviate some of the fear and panic that's been associated with this latest round of Swine Flu," said Bolen.
