Update: Sunday @ 11:30 a.m.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A former 94.5 DJ says the days of Z-Rock are through.
Melissa Knight says she was told by Bristol Broadcasting that the station was not bringing in enough money for the company.
Knight was the only live DJ working for the station in Charleston. She tells WSAZ.com that after December 31st, she will be out of a job.
She is still recording shows for Z-Rock 93.3 in Bristol,Virginia.
Earlier this month, Z-Rock suddenly switched over to all Christmas music all the time.
There's still no word on what format the station will switch to after the holidays.
ORIGINAL STORY
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A radio station known for rocking out is now decking the halls with holiday music, and it's causing plenty of static.
Z-Rock 94.5 in Charleston made a very unexpected move on Monday, switching to all Christmas music all the time. And the deejays are off the clock, too.
Details on the switch are staying secret, and the new sound is getting mixed reviews.
We contacted the owners of the station, Bristol Broadcasting. All they would say is that Z-Rock is undergoing some changes.

ZROCK was the BEST! I'm over 50 been rockin' since Ozzy was young, lived in Texas worked in L.A. Only station in area that EVER rocked! Left with a couple of "posers". Listenin' to ZROCK on internet from NoCal but back to CD's in truck. Can't we have a little progress in this area. It was so nice to have the best of something in our area. Now its gone. Cold. Dead. Final. I will always remember the daqy the music died in Wv. R.I.P.
