UPDATE: 11:30 p.m. Saturday
CLENDENIN, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Carter Nichols was in a cabin eating popcorn and drinking a soda and that was just fine with his mom.

Saturday crews spent six hours looking for the 7-year-old boy. He and his mom were in their yard on Gabe Road in Clendenin Saturday afternoon when she turned around to do something, Carter had wandered away.

"I'm very relieved. I was scared to death because it was getting dark and it was cold, and I didn't know if he was out somewhere crying, if maybe he'd gotten hurt or someone had taken him. I was imagining everything.'

WSAZ.com caught up with Julie Nichols about an hour after Carter was found.

Crews looked for Carter by land and air.

The search was intensified by the fact that Carter has autism. His mom told search crews he wouldn't verbally respond to anyone when they tried to talk to him.

So glad nothing bad happened to the little guy.I'm sure he got a monster hug when he got home.Heard about this sat evening, and was worried because there are so many areas around in clendenin that you could walk for a long time and not see a road or house.Once again glad he is home safe.
