(AP) - Former P-O-W Jessica Lynch plans to testify at a congressional hearing on misleading military statements about her kidnapping in Iraq and the death of Pat Tillman in Afghanistan.
Lynch's spokeswoman, Aly Goodwin Gregg, says the Wirt County native uses every opportunity to tell what really happened.
Congressional officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity say the April 24th hearing is part of an investigation into whether the misinformation was part of a strategy to mislead the public.
The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has been investigating Tillman's death and decided to add Lynch to the scope of its probe.
The military allegedly concealed for weeks the fact that Tillman had been killed by friendly fire.
Lynch was rescued from an Iraqi hospital in 2003. The rescue came nine days after she was kidnapped in an ambush of her unit. Early reports said Lynch fought the attackers until her ammunition ran out, but she later said she never fired a shot.
