CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- One man's trash is another man's treasure, but one store in our area is working to make that a reality everyday.

The ReStore is part of Habitat for Humanity. People can donate household items, and then ReStore resells it.

Saturday was the opening reception for "Restore Relics," a little twist on their usual deal. Local artists used recycled materials to create holiday artwork -- everything from Christmas ornaments to nutcrackers.

Rebecca Burch of Spencer says this event is a great way of thinking about our everyday lives.

"It is a really great idea to make things out of old things we throw away," Burch said. "I think we need to learn how to revalue things a little bit and not live such a disposable culture."

50-percent of the money raised goes to Habitat for Humanity's home-building projects.
