CARTER COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- David Caudill was back in court Tuesday with a change in his plea.

Caudill originally pleaded not guilty to his alleged role in a double murder last November in Carter County, but Tuesday he pleaded guilty.

Caudill pleaded guilty to two counts of capital murder, receiving stolen property and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.

He agreed to life without the possibility of parole on each of the murder counts.

The Judge formally sentenced Caudill Tuesday.

A grand jury indicted David Cauldill on two counts of murder; Richard Tomlin was charged with one count of receiving stolen property.

Back in November, Kentucky State Police found the bodies of Virginia Massard, 49, and Joseph Cox, 27, inside a home along Mocabbe Creek in Carter County. Both had been shot to death

Investigators have not released a motive for the killings.

The two men entered their not guilty pleas earlier this week in Carter County Circuit Court.

Tomlin was originally charge with being an accomplice to the murders, but those charges were dropped.

No word on when the two will be back in court

A neighbor, David Joe Caudill, 33, faces two murder charges, and Richard M. Tomlin Jr. is charged as an accomplice. Tomlin, 48, was charged with two counts of complicity to commit murder and one count of receiving stolen property (a motor vehicle).

Police and Massard's widower Jerry Massard say the murders happened last weekend while Jerry was away from his Mocabee Creek home.

On Monday, Virginia Massard and a family friend Joseph Cox were found shot and killed inside the home.

Police say Caudill already is in jail after he was found driving the Massards' SUV and found with a handgun that belonged to Jerry Massard.

Police have charged Tomlin with complicity to commit murder and receiving stolen property. Detectives say Tomlin was with Caudill in the Massard's stolen SUV.

Caudill and Tomlin both remain in jail. Their arraignments will take place next week.

There's also another murder probe from the north side of Carter County where Doug Fannin was found shot to death on his Anglin Branch Road property last Monday.

Detectives say the two cases are not related. As of Friday evening, there had been no arrests in that case.

Troopers say David Caudill, 33, of Carter County, was in possession of Virginia Massard's car when he was arrested in Olive Hill.

Caudill has been charged with receiving stolen property, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, operating on a suspended license and a warrant for flagrant non-support.

He is being held in the Carter county Detention Center.

Virginia Massard, 49, and Joseph Cox, 27, were found inside a home in Mocabee Creek Monday morning.

Kentucky State Police also tell WSAZ.com that both people had been shot. No word on when they were killed.

Troopers are not saying if Caudill is connected to the murders.

Autopsies on the victims are scheduled for Tuesday.
