CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- After a week of warm temperatures, it's hard to even think about the winter months, but they're just around the corner.

The West Virginia Department of Highways is expected to kick of its annual Snow Removal and Ice Control (SRIC) campaign on Thursday. This year's theme is "Ice and Snow, Take it Slow and Don't Crowd the Plow."

The statewide effort is designed to make sure all the crews are ready when the snow starts falling.

The annual kickoff will take place at the Amma DOH garage on Interstate 79 Thursday.

According to a news release, DOH workers work around the clock whenever state roads are covered with snow or ice.
