CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Healthcare providers and community health partners in West Virginia will get an update on Swine Flu (H1N1)on Thursday.
State Health Officer Dr. Cathy Slemp spoke at the 2009 West Virginia Public Health Symposium. She updated the group on the latest findings on the virus in West Virginia.
Dr. Slemp says that partnership is vital.
"It’s a partnership you have to do it together, in collaboration and we each play a different role, but we do it together and that makes a difference," Dr. Slemp said. "We know that our disease curves went up as we expected, they peaked, and we are now seeing the last couple weeks, the disease drop."
“This is a tremendous opportunity for health care providers or community groups to send at least one representative to this conference to learn the facts about H1N1," Dr. Loretta Haddy said. "We’re extending an invitation to community partners, school and higher education partners, nonprofits and anyone that needs
or wants the latest information on H1N1 to attend.”
The keynote speaker for the event was Dr. Nathan Wolfe, an epidemiologist who will speak about global pandemics and will discuss H1N1.

We need some vaccinations not talk. If the vaccinations were available there wouldn't be a problem. Most clinics say they won't even be able to get the vaccinations for the H1N1, like they always have for the seasonal flu shots. I guess the counties will just give them out through health dept. at the courthouse, to the ones that vote right.
Why do they spend so much time and effort to discuss the H1N1, when there isn't enough vaccinations and the doctors' office and clinics won't even test you for it. Blah, blah blah. Waste, waste waste.
