One Dead in Boyd County Crash, Name Released
A man from Louisville was killed in an accident on Route 60 near Summit in Boyd County Thursday.

SUMMIT, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A man from Louisville was killed in an accident on Route 60 near Summit in Boyd County Thursday.

The crash happened at about 1:40 p.m. on U.S. 60 at Summit Road in Summit.

A news release from the Boyd County Sheriff's Department says 82-year-old Floryan Yakimovicz was headed west on U.S. 60 and hit a tractor trailer that was pulling out into the intersection to make a left turn.

Yakimovicz's pickup truck went under the trailer of the semi, trapping him in his vehicle. He died at the scene.

Investigators at the scene told WSAZ.com that it appeared as though the semi had a green light at the time -- and there were no immediate indications that Yakimovicz tried to stop before hitting the truck.

The driver of the semi, 46-year-old David Terry of Branchland, W.Va., was not hurt in the crash.

West bound traffic was rerouted for several hours, but has since been restored back to normal.

i knew jack personally i took care of his security alarm and electrical work for years and loved him and his wife and dogs i just found out about this today and cant quit crying!!!!!!!!!!! Im so sorry i would love to know what arrangements was made im so sorry for everyone involved.

His name was Floryan ( Jack ) Yakimovicz. He was my neighbor and friend. A good man who deserved better than this. He had just recently lost his wife. Jack had the most beautiful yard in the neighborhood with every flower you could think of, he was a master gardener. He loved his family and was looking forward to moving back to Louisville to live with his daughter. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. May God bless and keep you all.

Hi i am part of the family of the man who was killed. Im am so tuched just to no him. Also people he was to old to be txeting. All I know is that anyone that knew should be grateful that they got to or new him.
