FRANKLIN, W.Va. (AP) - State police and fire officials have just found four missing canoers in the Smoke Hole Canyon area of Pendleton County.

Officials at the Charleston Fire Department confirm that one of the canoers is Matt Nesius, a firefighter in the city -- and the department was getting ready to send a crew up to help in the search.

Authorities were alerted at about 5:30 p.m Monday that the four hadn't been heard from since Friday. The missing were believed to be two Ohio men and two men from Charleston, West Virginia. Family had expected a phone call Saturday and reported the four missing.

A campground manager told state police that the foursome left their camp unattended and no one has seen them.
