The family of a former high school basketball star is facing the unthinkable: their son was murdered. And the town is in shock: it’s the first murder in St. Albans since 1994.

Lawrence Booker, known to many as LB, was shot twice early Tuesday morning on Holley Street in St. Albans. And now the search is on for his killer.

Booker played basketball at Capital High from 1998 to 2001. He was number 22 and an all-state player….but now all his loved ones can do is remember all he had to offer. Booker was just 23 years old. Those who knew Booker describe him as a good kid who always loved sports and had a lot of friends.

If people have any information they're asked to call the police.

The police chief says they have people of interest but are not releasing any information about a specific suspect at this time. Police are still investigating a motive and say they hope to know more by Wednesday.
