FILLMORE, Utah (AP) - A sport utility vehicle carrying five people from West Virginia rolled off Interstate 15 in Utah Friday, killing two people.
The Utah Highway Patrol says the driver, 15-year-old Shawn Coffman, fell asleep about 7:45 a-m Mountain Daylight Time, drifted into the median and then rolled the G-M-C Yukon several times while trying to regain control.
The highway patrol says 43-year-old Michael Pack of Raleigh County and seven-year-old Katelyn Coffman of Cool Ridge died.
Two other passengers, 40-year-old Mirian Coffman and eleven-year-old Brandon Coffman, also from Cool Ridge, were critically injured. The driver had minor injuries.
The highway patrol says the driver had a valid learner's permit.
The wreck occurred just north of Fillmore, Utah.
Sergeant Todd Hull says Mirian Coffman is the children's mother. Pack was her boyfriend.
