MADISON, W.Va. (AP) - Madison Middle School is planning a memorial service Monday for an eighth-grader who died in an all-terrain vehicle accident.

Fourteen-year-old Brian Michael Johnson of Ottawa was killed Friday afternoon in an accident in a wooded area near the Logan County line.

Boone County Sheriff Rodney Miller says the boy tried to go up a steep embankment, which caused the A-T-V to flip over. Miller says that even though Johnson was wearing a helmet, the injury appeared to be head trauma.

Madison Middle School Principal Gary Bell says Johnson was well-liked by everybody at school.

Bell says from now on, Madison Middle teachers will try to focus on teaching children how to ride A-T-Vs safely.

Meanwhile, crisis counselors will be at the school to help students, family members and staff cope with Johnson's death.
