HANOVER, W.Va. (AP) - A Gilbert police officer has died from injuries received in a Wyoming County motorcycle accident.

Patrolman Dennie J. Hurley II died in a Charleston hospital Tuesday morning, one day after the wreck.

State Trooper M.S. Godfrey says Hurley was riding home from work on state Route 97 in the Godfrey's Corner community when a vehicle pulled out of a driveway into his path.

The driver's view was apparently obstructed by some shrubbery and a curve in the road.

Hurley crossed the center line to avoid striking the car, but hit the vehicle's left front corner and was thrown over the car's roof -- landing in the road.

Neither the driver of the car nor her ten-year-old passenger were injured.

Gilbert Police Chief Ryan Harman says Hurley had been with the department for about three months.

The wreck is still under investigation, but no charges have been filed.
