State regulators and Chevron Products Company are negotiating a cleanup plan for a former gas station in Ceredo.
The Department of Environmental Protection says Chevron has submitted an application to clean up soil and groundwater
contamination at the site.
The D-E-P says underground storage tanks already have been removed from the site and work is under way to install groundwater
monitoring wells and take samples of soil and groundwater.
The agency and Chevron are negotiating a voluntary remediation
agreement that will include identifying health and ecological risks
associated with current and potential uses of the site. Once these
risks are identified, cleanup standards will be established.
