ATHENS, Ohio (AP) - As it deals with an expected budget shortfall, Ohio University says it has frozen hiring in some areas.

The school says the freeze will last until June 30th and covers positions in technical and administrative support, accounting and records.

O-U says it could be a blessing for employees whose positions are being eliminated amid cutbacks. Officials in human resources say those workers may be able to move into other jobs being left unfilled because of the freeze.
