WINFIELD, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Putnam County 911 dispatchers and EMS workers have been answering emergency calls in cramped quarters, now their calls for more room are being answered.
WSAZ.com's Kallie Cart received an exclusive tour of the county's new Emergency Services Center.
It features several state-of-the-art features, including a central area where emergency responders may gather during a large scale emergency. It is wired with the latest technology, but it's the space that's considered the biggest upgrade.
Currently, Putnam County 911 dispatchers work out of a basement in the old courthouse. EMS, the fire board and mechanics all share a small building in the parking lot.
One third of the new building will be used for 911 dispatchers -- with new technology at their fingertips and even at their desks. Dispatchers work 12-hour shifts so their desks raise with the touch of a button to give them the option to stand to make them more comfortable.
On the other end of the building will be EMS with bunks and private bath areas. There are also several offices and large spaces for training, something they didn't have before.
Workers with EMS hope to be moved into the building in about three weeks. The 911 center will take a little longer to finish all of the wiring for the radio and telephone system. They hope to be moved in by mid-January.

That is a picture of the old courthouse. Where many county employees offices are.
That photo is actually the old Court House. The place that you pay your personal and real estate taxes, Putnam County Planning Commission, County Commission and where the Putnam County Record Room is located. That photo was taken from what looks to be from outside the Judicial Building. The EMS, Fire Safety Board and EMS is located on your immediate left and the white building to the left of the Court House is the Prestera Building.
You must have posted thr wrong picture .The place in the picture looks like a place were the Queen of England would live .If this is the real picture a great deal of tax money has been wasted.
