GRANTSVILLE, W.Va. (AP) - A former Grantsville police chief is facing new charges that he sexually assaulted at least six girls and women and used his position to try to silence some of the victims.
Fifty-seven year old Ronald J- Gordon Senior has been indicted on four counts of first-degree sexual abuse, four counts of second-degree sexual assault and one count of nighttime burglary.
Prosecutors say the assaults occurred when Gordon was a home confinement officer and later a police chief. They also say he used his positions to threaten the victims into keeping silent.
The alleged abuses occurred in 1981, 1988 and between 2000 and 2005.
Gordon was police chief in Grantsville from 2003 to March 2006.
He was originally charged last year with three counts of second-degree sexual assault.
Gordon has been on home confinement since his arrest and is scheduled to appear before a circuit judge on May 23rd.
