Mayor Danny Jones says perception is the reason behind his request to ask Tri State Gaming to cut their proposed plans for 12,000 seat entertainment arena in half.

In a news conference Wednesday morning, the mayor says the public and the Convention and Visitors Bureau have concerns.

Even though he felt the types of shows at the two venues would attract different kinds of crowds and not be in competition.

The mayor says this move is in the best interest of the entire community.

The vote on the table games issue in Kanawha County is set for August 11.
