HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - A Wayne County couple has pleaded guilty to fraud charges.
Forty-nine-year-old Brenda Sue Jude and her husband, 50-year-old Ray Jude, were indicted in December on charges of aiding and abetting each other in a scheme to defraud the Social Security Administration.
At a recent plea hearing in federal court in Huntington, Brenda Judge admitted that she submitted a Social Security form in February of 2003 that falsely stated that she lived alone and had no source of income.
The indictment alleges the Judes were living together and shared bank accounts, and had a legal duty to report that they supported each other.
As part of a plea deal, Brenda Jude agreed to pay more than 70-thousand dollars in restitution to the Social Security Administration.
Ray Jude pleaded to a misdemeanor charge related to helping his wife hide her criminal activities.
Sentencing for the Crum couple is set for August 20th.
