Southern Skyways is now open for business at Yeager Airport in Charleston. The airline offers a direct flight to Myrtle Beach.
A ribbon-cutting will make it official at 9:30am this morning and the first flight will take off at 10:30am this morning at Yeager Airport.
Fares to Myrtle Beach start at $99 dollars one way. The flights leave on Mondays and Fridays through most of the summer.
Airport Director Rick Atkinson says cost is just one factor why the airline will be a success, time is another.
Southern Skyways originally planned to start the service in March, but a weak response prompted the carrier to push it back. Its also since canceled a cheap-direct to Cincinnati and the planes flying from Yeager Airport are much smaller than first expected.
Airport Officials say many of the Myrtle Beach flights are already sold out.
