A man under arrest for drunk driving ended up in a stand-off with the Lawrence County Sheriff's department. Deputies stopped Joseph Krantz for D-U-I in Ironton early Sunday morning.
While he was being booked at the sheriff's department officers say he overpowered them and got a deputies weapon. That officer and another inside the building were able to get out.
Police say Krantz barricaded himself inside. At one point Krantz fired a shot but nobody was hurt.
Officers finally talked to the suspect on the phone and while distracting him were able to take him down and get the gun.
Krantz faces numerous charges including assult on an officer, robbery and resisting arrest.
Krantz is 31 years old and from Ashland, Kentucky.
