Former Cabell County Superintendent David L. Roach became Lincoln County's new superintendent Tuesday.

Roach has been in teaching and administration for more than thirty years.

“David brings a great deal of leadership experience to the table,” WV State Superintendent Steve Paine said. “His expertise in curriculum is impressive and I am confident he is the right choice to help Lincoln County continue on the path of improvement.”

The state board took control of Lincoln County schools in 2000 after some 200 deficiencies camed up in a report from the Office of Education Performance Audits.

“I’m looking forward to working with the staff, the county board and the community to move forward on the county’s strategic plan,” Roach said. “Our mission is to raise student achievement and I am committed to doing just that.”

Roach starts July 1. He'll be the third superintendent since state control began in Lincoln County. Anne Seaver announced her retirement recently after replacing William Grizzell last year when he retired.
