Some Hope For A Town Without Water

Some residents in the town of Clendenin have been without water for nearly 24 hours, but there is finally some hope it will be back on by Wednesday night.

A spokesperson with Clendenin Water Works says the residents started losing water around 2 o'clock yesterday. He says there is a water leak in the Elk River where the water pumps from one side of the town to the other.

Mayor Bob Ore says the problem is unacceptable. Mayor Ore also says this has been an ongoing problem and it's disappointing the town can't supply water.

West Virginia American Water is in the process of taking over the town's water system. Both water systems are now working together to fix the problem.

Workers say the water should be back on by midnight Wednesday.
