CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- It's a piece of artwork on wheels that's gaining a lot of attention, and that's the point.

Richwood High School's Football team is celebrating a 12-0 season. To celebrate their victory, Kelly Kessler says her dad wanted to buy a billboard.

"It takes 2 or 3 weeks to get a billboard, so he pulled some resources and got an old billboard vinyl. We flipped it over and we have this wonderful mural artist and she volunteered her time to paint."

With the help of Deborah Dorland, the team now has a huge mural attached to the side of a tractor trailer. A feat that players didn't think would actually become a reality.

"We had this woman come into our gym class and she thought it would be a good idea to paint a mural on the side of the rig, said Robert Puckett, who is a Richwood Senior. "The next day at our football game we had tractor trailer on the mural on the side of it."

The paint to create the masterpiece was donated and a local car dealer who also even offered up an old garage to serve as a workspace. The community pitched in to paint messages of support and create the team's Lumberjack mascot.

For the artist, this project was a new and meaningful experience.

"I have never painted a mural this fast. It usually takes a couple of months to paint something this big," said Deborah. "Everybody came out from town and signed the mural and to me that's really neat for them to be a part of it."

The team encountered some honks and waves on their trip to Logan County Saturday. The team was defeated by the Man Hillbillies 27-20.

Way to go Richwood. I was part of the 1995 state championship at gilbert and our town was very supportive too. Thats really good of the community. Them boys on the team will remember that forever. Wish they could of had a miracle run this year, but they came pretty darn close. They need to make a highlight film of the year too, thats always good to look back on when ur a 30 somethin, reliving the "glory days" like Al Bundy!!!! I DID score 4 touchdowns in one game!!

I am so proud of Richwood High School. This years football team really brought enthusiasm back to Richwood, WV. I hope every single member of the RHS football team is standing proud today. You guys had an amazing year. With the players, let's not forget the faculty, coaches, band, & the fans!! I am so proud to be a graduate of RHS! On a side note, another individual commented on the band. I was a marjorette in high school, and in college and I can safely say I have never known a band director who would take more pride in the school he represents than Greg James!!! RHS has always had an amazing band and always will under the direction of Greg James!!!! Way to go JACKS!!!
