FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. -- Police believe a house fire may be related to a Memorial Day triple homicide in Fayette County.

The house of 51-year-old Dwayne Martin was destroyed by fire late Friday night. Martin has been charged with three murders and is currently being held at Southern Regional Jail. Fayette County Sheriff Bill Laird said the fire may have been set in retaliation.

Local authorities say Martin shot 24-year-old Carl Blaine Cox, 23-year-old Christopher Lee Legg and 22-year-old Dustin Tyler Hughes in front of his home on Stringtown Road near Hico.

Investigators are looking into an argument that allegedly occurred just before the shooting.

While two of the dead men were riding all-terrain vehicles and a third was riding an off-road motorcycle, Laird says it's uncertain whether the argument involved the vehicles.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled Tuesday in Fayette Magistrate Court.
