Anytime someone dies suddenly -- especially when that person is active and healthy -- friends and family are left in a state of shock and disbelief. That pretty much sums up the feeling at the Russell Christian Church after one of their ministers drown on a trip to Mexico .

Now his fellow ministers at the church are helping people grieve... as they themselves try to cope with the tragedy.

Mark Angel drown while on a Mission trip in Mexico Sunday afternoon.
He was caught in an undertow while swimming in the Gulf of Mexico. Two college students who are life guards tried to revive him but were unsuccessful. Angel was the Involvement minister at Russell Christian Church in Russell, Ky., where he served for 15 years.

"It's a very sad and tragic accident," one church spokesperson said. "We just need the community to pray for us."

The church held a prayer service Monday night at the church sanctuary.

Angel leaves behind a wife and four year old daughter.
