GASSAWAY, W.Va. -- Braxton County Memorial Hospital officials restricted access to a section of the facility Wednesday after four workers became ill.
Hospital adminstrator Ben Vincent told The Charleston Gazette that the workers had respiratory problems which led to nausea and vomiting.
The Department of Environmental Protection sent investigators to the hospital after being contacted by local health officials.
D-E-P spokeswoman Jessica Greathouse says the workers also complained of having a metal taste in their mouths. But Greathouse says the D-E-P doesn't know what caused the incident.
The incident occurred at around 4 pm. Vincent told the Gazette that patients in the affected area were moved to other areas of the hospital. Non-critical patients are being diverted to other facilities but the hospital remains open.
