In these hot temperatures many seek out pools to stay cool. And that's one reason why since Charleston’s Mayor Danny Jones took office he's made the city pools free.
But Friday he decided that's going to have to change that at one city pool because people are taking advantage. Cato Pool on the Charleston's west side will now charge everyone $2.00. That's because the mayor says too many people were being rowdy -- and in fact Thursday even threw the manager in the pool.
He says he's disappointing to have to make the change.
"It is and it's probably just a small number of people but the safety comes first. It's hot and we think people ought to take advantage of our pools but not at the expense of our employees."
That $2 charge will go into effect immediately.
All the other Charleston city pools will remain free.
