A 4-year-old child wandered away from his home early Friday morning, ultimately causing CPS to take him and three other foster children into custody.
It happened at about 6:30am on Elaine Drive in Rand.
Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies say a neighbor spotted the boy roaming the area -- and called police. After deputies could not located the boy's home, Child Protective Services was called in.
Later, deputies found the boy's guardian. They say he wandered about 200 yards from his home for about an hour before the neighbor found him.
CPS took the lost child and three other children that were in the foster home.
Deputies are still determining whether charges will be filed in the case.
