Ohio State has dropped its bid to host one of next year's presidential debates.
The decision could help the chances of the University of Cincinnati, which is hoping to host a debate along with the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber.
OSU and the University of Cincinnati were among 19 applicants from across the country and the only two from Ohio.
Ohio State vice president Curt Steiner informed the nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates this week of the university decision.
Steiner wrote that OSU's search to replace retiring president Karen Holbrook makes it difficult to raise the necessary four million dollars to host a debate.
The commission will announce in the fall sites for three presidential debates and one vice presidential debate.
