Natalie Tennant plans to run for West Virginia Secretary of State next year. Tennant filed pre-candidacy papers this week. That'll enable her to start raising money for the statewide office.
It'll be Tennant's second shot at the job. She lost the democratic nomination to longtime political figure Ken Hechler in 2004.
Tennant plans to kick off her campaign with a ceremony on West Virginia Day, June 20th. Tennant says West Virginia Day will always be special for her because that's the day she married her husband, Kanawha County Senator Erik Wells.
“We need to do better, not just in West Virginia, but across this country of making sure our citizens feel empowered when they vote," Tennant said.
Before entering government work, Tennant anchored the news at WCHS in Charleston and WBOY in Clarksburg.
